Pepsi to Debut New TV Ad to Mark the Launch of THE X FACTOR

On Wednesday at 8 p.m. EST, the debut of "THE X FACTOR" is expected to be the top-rated TV show this fall. "THE X FACTOR" marks Simon Cowell’s return to network television, where he reunites with Paula Abdul and is joined by judges - former Def Jam Records chairman “L.A.” Reid and former Pussycat Dolls lead singer Nicole Scherzinger.

Pepsi, the premier sponsor of the show, will celebrate the launch with a new TV commercial titled “Who’s Next?” Debuting September 21, “Who’s Next?” includes past Pepsi commercial superstars such as Michael Jackson, Britney Spears and Kanye West, among others.

In addition to the TV spot, Pepsi launched a U.S.-wide retail promotion giving consumers an opportunity to win a trip to Los Angeles to attend a live taping of “THE X FACTOR.” The Pepsi promotion will run through Oct. 29, during which time Pepsi will give away a trip to Los Angeles for a winner and their guest each day.

The Pepsi promotion leverages breakthrough photo recognition technology that turns photo sharing into rewards. To participate, consumers snap a picture with their mobile phone, tablet or digital camera of select "THE X FACTOR"-branded Pepsi products, and send the photo via text or email to In turn, consumers receive daily, never-before-seen "THE X FACTOR" videos and the opportunity to win additional prizing.
